Area Description (back to top)

Soquel is a beautiful small town and surrounding rural area set in the center of Santa Cruz County. With a charming village giving a center to Soquel's identity, this sleepy town center and mountainous back-country make Soquel a great place to live.

Soquel Drive passes through the heart of Soquel Village. It is intersected by Porter Street, which goes on up into the hills and becomes Old San Jose Road. As its name implies, this is the "old" way to get to San Jose. You can still get to San Jose on this road - it links up with Summit Road, which you can then take to Highway 17 and then to the Silicon Valley. Soquel Drive also interects with Main Street, which becomes Glen Haven road as it winds further up into the hills.

My favorite coffee shop is in Soquel: the Ugly Mug. My favorite Thai food is also here - Star of Siam serves it to me the way I like it: blazing hot! Don't worry - unless you ask for "11 stars" your food will be mildly spiced.
